monday morning......

Over the weekend I stumbled across some old children's shoes I had in a box and thought why not turn them into little pin cushions....... pulled out some pieces of old quilts, velvet scraps, lace, vintage pinwheels a friend gave me and started to put these little things together......you can tell they were old and worn out and I didn't want to clean them for fear it would ruin the patina so here they are .......you just kind of wonder who's little feet these were on and where are they now!

this is what is on my work table and 2 rooms............whew!  A lot of work going on over here for the upcoming Glitter Market and Glitter Retreat in November at the Paper Crown Waco.....hope all of you who will be attending are as excited as we are to have you attend!

Another week flew by...........

here is another darling mini book from Tiffany who was in the first class......I got to see this in person because she was over yesterday and we had a work day.....I love all of her elements she added with al the different colors of thread she used.........she said she hasn't always been crazy about hand stitching but now she is hooked..........so glad she is!  Thanks for coming to class Tiff and for sharing your darling book........

tuesday this and that............

Are you all ready for Paper Crown Waco  Glitter Market and Retreat?????????????  We are getting in gear and are so excited for the upcoming events..........this will certainly be a great way to get in the holiday spirit and a wonderful time to do a little shopping and creating! 

 

 

 

 

The photo below is from Sunday.......my dear friend text me saturday and said her Grandaughters wanted to show me what they had been making.....but first are these jean jackets the cutest things ever..... their grandmother made these from my punch needle pattern....... anyway getting back to these little creative talented girls this grandmother took my class a couple weeks ago and went home and taught these two how to shrink.......they made their little bracelets..........

These girls love to make things......last year I think I shared about these 2 came over to learn how to punch needle......they are both pros now and I wish I would of taken a photo of the one they were working on to show me their progress..........for their ages they will tackle anything and so fun to watch them...........thank you girls and Thank You Debbie for teaching these Grandaughters how to create beautiful things..........

 

Another fun and finished mini Journal created by Donna........She not only put the shrink "Journal" on but incorporated part of her name tag.........love love love it and the use of other elements and color I would say well done........thanks for sharing!

What's been on my worktable this week.............

It's been one of those weeks that I have worked hours and hours on a lot of different things and hopefully I am well on my way for Glitter Market and Glitter Retreat..........it's taken me a little longer to figure out a few things but now that some of the decisions have been made I am hopefully making progress and having fun making things.......these photos above are a few things in the process and I will have the finished soon to show you......but for know as you can see there is a "Quilt theme going on" and it's been so much fun working with these quilts.......

below is a couple more photos of the shrink quilt buttons.......some of these I decided I did not like the middle so I just made another square and glued it on.....these will be charms to hang and not really buttons  I just punched one hole to hang from whatever, if that all makes sense! They are 3D now....it's a great way to cover up mistakes or some design or color.......

This was done by Nancy ......... she incorporated the Bloom image from the Cathe Holden flea market fabric line.....so appropriate since this is a vase full of flowers......she also added some more quilt pieces and some trim to finish......I love all the little extras these girls added to their books......beautiful work Nancy.

 

The photo below I have already shared but this is the updated version.......... Robin tweeked a few things from the photo I showed you at the first of the week.......she added real buttons to the inside of her shrink flowers..........great idea and I think I may steal her idea because it really does make a difference....it brightens up the entire cover.......you can see the difference between the first photo and then the original.....

Students work...........

I always love it when a student sends me photos of their finished projects..........one thing I always feel bad about teaching a class is when the students leave they have not finished their projects but sometimes it cant be helped ........the past few class I have taught in Waco and here just happen to be one of those classes .........but the good news is some of them have finished and here are a few of them......

This photo above was from one of the Waco classes in July..........Melissa did an amazing job and took it to another level.......her detail work on the shrink is unbelievable........thank you Melissa for sharing your work........

These 2 photos  above are from last weeks class........Suzy just sent these last night so she really worked her magic to get it finished this soon.....great job Suzy and I love how she had a teapot/teacup theme going.....these girls amaze me on their creative talents and just go for it..........thanks Suzy for these photos......Good Job!

 

And this little cutie pie just came in about an hour ago from my friend Robin who was in class last week from Texas......if you know Robin she says she isn't an embroider but look at the great job she did not only of the stitching but the shrink buttons.............thanks Robin for coming all that way to stitch ( Embroidery) with us and to finish your little mini book........

 

 to all of you who have attended one of my classes this summer THANK YOU ...........I have enjoyed all the new and familiar faces I have met through this creative community.......I love what I do and you all inspire me to keep on............

tiny quilt squares.........

Well I spent a few hours working on these Shrink quilt square buttons and thought I would share them with you.......so much fun to come up with designs and colors to make them fun to use on little projects.........of course you would not be able to use them on garments unless you took them off every time you washed them but I don't think with the points you could even make a button hole big enough for them to fit through....so it's more decorative than useable......

the 3 photos below you can see how big they are before they are shrunk...........the pastel colors are my favorite because it reminds me of quilts of old.........

Been working on some other quilted projects and hopefully show you a few peeks later on this week.......

Happy Friday...........

It certainly has been a long good, bad and ugly week but ending on a grateful note.........being landlord to a floral shop certainly has it's perks and above is the result......except for the first photo is from class and those are from Trader Joes............

the week started out with the lightning situation which was the ugly/bad but having a group of sweet gals for class on wednesday and this load of fresh flowers all ended on a good and grateful note.......it could of been much worse so we are thankful and we are getting back to normal .........

class highlights.........

As you can see Miss Girdie made an appearance this week for class......I drug her out of the garage and foo fooed her up a little to look like she was going to a sewing class with her quilt top dress and pattern/directions ruffle and collar........any way it brought back old memories of the Paper Crown OKC.......she has worn many hats through the years.......

Anyway class was so much fun to get ready for and these girls showed up eager to shrink and stitch a little...I am always sad if they don't finish their project but knowing from the previous class I knew they wouldn't but they did get all of the shrink shruk and they were well on their way.....not to many photos as usual of their process but I did manage to get some of them working hard with their heat guns and colored pencils...

Some old and new faces for class........thanks girls for coming over to spend the afternoon creating with some shrink plastic making flower buttons........you all did amazing jobs and I can't wait to see your finished mini journals......hopefully they will send me photos so I can share with you all.....

Miss Robin came in from Weatherford Texas for class and we so loved having her join in on the fun....she is always fun to have in class....thanks Robin!

Well we did manage to over look all the chaos outside in the front yard from the lightning struck tree and all the damage it caused but that never distracts from a group of gals creating some fun inside.......I love every minute of you all coming over and hope to see you all soon in Waco for the Big Paper Crown Glitter Market and Retreat in November......it's going to be so much FUN!!!
