A little paper project.........you know I love paper and will always incorporate paper into my projects......since I have been doing so much stitching I decided I would try this new card/envelope project that Heather of Ruby and Pearl had a tutorial on and have loved making these....a great way to give a gift card/photos or sentiment for any occasion...it's also fun to tuck one into your journals.........I might even have a few to sell at the Paper Crown Glitter Market in November........

Up date on the tree situation.......at least you can get to the front door now and hopefully when the roofers comes today we will see what damage is to the roof, keeping our fingers crossed......we had one light fixture broken, one of our front trees to the entry got a little  damaged but other than that we were lucky.....it could of been worse.....we don't know for sure if Tom's truck is totaled or not but he should find that out today.........

 

anyway class is still on tomorrow and we won't let a little lightning keep us from creating, just don't look at the yard and all the mess........ha ha  

mother nature/lightning strikes

Well we have all been praying for rain and to cool off here in Oklahoma for weeks and finally last night it started raining.......and raining and lightning and thunder and more lightning and thunder...............this is the result of the storm that passed through......out of 4 big pecan trees in our front yard , lightning decided to strike at the biggest one, and of all nights for Tom to park his BRAND NEW TRUCK in the front.......well you guessed it this huge tree fell smack dab on top of the truck.......... you should of heard the thud it made......we were already in bed and thought it was an accident in back of our house which isn't unusual , and usually you will hear a siren right after you hear a thud but never happened so Tom got up to see what it was.....he started yelling at me to come see what had happened.......we really couldn't tell how much damage until this morning.  Thank goodness it didn't go through the house roof or through the windows etc..............crazy crazy crazy..

This is not how you want to start a new week off but sometimes Mother Nature deals you a curve.........HAPPY MONDAY ALL!!!!!!

Always seems like everyone finds the best deals and at the right place at the right time....most of the time I don't fit into that category...but if you keep hitting the same thrift/antique malls etc. you just have to keep going be patient and keep checking them out ..........this week I feel like I found some goodies....this quilt is really a cutter quilt but has a lot of potential...I only paid $ 16.00 for it and felt like it was a super deal.......

I also found a few other things that I thought were a bargain and something I can use in up coming classes or to add onto some upcoming projects...........

So this is what I have managed to scoop up this week.........

now I need to finish up my class kits etc. for my class this week.......so excited to see all you girls and spending time creating........see you all Wednesday afternoon!

Well it's finally time to spread the good word that the Paper Crown is back with a favorite to all Glitter Retreat Retreaters.........the first since Cindy moved the Paper Crown to Waco and we could not be more excited for this wonderful event.  The dates of the retreat are Nov. 14-17......the theme will be Holiday inspired .... Details of this event are in the Paper Crown IG profile and sign ups started today.....if you have ever been to one of these events you will know how quickly it sells out so don't wait to long......you won't be sorry!

49 years.......

 

This past week Tom and I celebrated out 49 wedding anniversary........wow! Can't even believe it and headed into our 50th year.........I have absolutely no complaints about this man and we have been very blessed...........This year has been a lot of milestones in a way..........Tom retired, I turned 70, our son turned 43 and Life has been great so far.........hoping and praying for more milestones ahead.........a few old photos below..........

As the saying goes " It's been a great ride"............

jewelry bags.....

Happy friday.............now that we have a Glitter Market date I have been trying to get some of my little projects out to finish....these small jewelry bags are something I can always work on in the evenings while watching tv........I love how deconstructed and natural they are with all sorts of different types of fabric colors and designs....kinda miss matched in so many different ways....anyway just thought I would show you a little progress on my slow stitching projects.....love to slow stitch!

exciting news..........

The Paper Crown Glitter Market is returning once again and will be held in Waco for the first time since Cindy moved .........we are so excited!!!!!! So mark you calendars for Sunday November 13 from 1-5 at the Stories  building on 800 Austin Ave. Waco........

If you are thinking of joining in on the fun and want to be a vendor Cindy is taking vendor applications. This will be a juried market......if you are interested you can email photos of your work along with information to papercrownwaco@gmail.com.    Questions can also be directed to this email. Applications will be taken through 9/4/22 and vendors will be notified 9/9/22 ......

my monday worktable........

Last week I showed you my rag dolls without faces and clothes.....over the weekend I pulled out old quilts, lace, doillies, buttons, kantha quilts, handkerchiefs,old socks and anything I thought would add a little whimsy  to make these old looking dolls sweet...........most of them as you can see have quilted pieces for dresses, over alls and little jackets made from quilt pieces...

I will hopefully get these finished this week and a sneak peek of the finished dolls..........Happy Monday!

friday fun.........

What a fun day spent with creative friends on a hot friday afternoon in Oklahoma.......the kits above all had their names on a fish stick with a mini sewing flash card saying hanging on the lips of the fish ( kinda like a hook and line...ha ha ha)

All set for the girls to arrive..........of course their are always things come up in our lives that can't be helped and we missed Glenda, Joni, Polly and Penny......your kits are on the way and maybe next time...

This photo below cracks me up because Tiffany is pointing her scissors at me like girl you better behave or else.....and if you know Tiffany there is not one ounce of ugly in her DNA...she is the sweetest, thoughtful, most kind person you will ever meet....but I just had to laugh when this photo was downloaded.....

Miss Beth won the door prize....

A little food for for the girls since they needed a little nourishment for the 4 hours of creating..........I took some of these of the food before they got here and the bowl with the pretzels had mustard dip.......

the cup with the crown had pimento cheese in it ...........

and of course coconut cupcakes.....

the photo below of the four of us was taken twice and this was the only one that Tiffanys head wasn't cut off, sorry Lee Jean but you have a pretty smile even though your eyes are closed...these 3 cowgirls are not only talented in the creative world but in the World of Rodeo champs these gals have several national titles....if that is the correct wordage.......Rodeo runs in their veins....I can't imagine being on a horse with a gun shooting target balloons........anyway these are your champs.......loved getting to know you all.....(hope to see you soon so we can make those fabric barns!!!!!)

 I hope they all enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did creating these little books......of course they did not finish but you can see by the progress they had a great start and they all did such a wonderful job making them so darn cute......I loved all of them and hope to see them when they are finished.....thank you Lee Jean, Tiffany, Dawn, Susie, Beth and Susan for a fun friday afternoon!

Sorry this was such a long post but I wanted to let you all in on the fun........since this was my first class here since last summer.....
