Book #1........the inside has a couple pages with a middle heart......the front shows the heart circle felt applique and this last photo is the back side........
Book #2....basically has the same contents but the quilt cover and heart circle applique is different color.........
And this is # 3.........same just different color......
If you are a stitcher you probably know how these are constructed. There are no instructions but you can do whatever you want to put it together... I always sew with the machine right down the middle of the book to keep it all together ....there is 2 buttons for the closure...one is a shrink button and the other is just a button....a piece of elastic is to sew on the back part to connect for the button closure.....you can also look at some of the finished ones from Terri's retreat and on my recent photos here on the blog......also included is a shrink label that says pins and needles that you can sew on the front or use anywhere inside the book....a blanket stitch was used all around the outside edge to kind of finish it off......you can stitch the applique circle heart with so many different stitches but whatever one you choose it will look great.....the cost of the kit is $ 45.00 plus $ 5.00 shipping........if anyone is interested in one of these please email me at [email protected] ........

I have been trying once again to get the hang of doing tintypes........I love them but they are tricky and to make them look like the real thing.........last year at Terri Brush's weekend workshop in the spring we learned how to do these tintypes in class and I felt like I had it down but once I got home and tried to do it again it has been a disaster......I have no idea what is going on...... the transfer is so hard for me but I am still trying to get the hang of it and maybe someday soon teach a class.......above are the two that turned out just okay....... the one on the left is Aunt Bill ( Tom's aunt ) and the one on the right is (Tom's mom) Jewell). I have always loved old photos where the girls have the little page boy hair cut with the bangs and cropped up sides.......
Anyway this is what I have been trying to work on..........hopefully someday soon I will feel confident enough to teach this fun technique!
Have a great week.......

I can't believe I just now decorated the front door for spring........I always had the idea of the basket with real flowers but it never happened...one reason, I would of had to water it every day and it would always be a mess.......... going against what I have always said I would never do is get "fake flowers".........REALLY!!!!!!! Yep I did and I am okay with them! Less messy and I don't have to water them! It's a win win..........so don't judge me until you see how real they really look in person......
enjoy today...........

I never get tired of the Chandeliers in Terri's studio.....they always look amazing in photos not to mention how beautiful they really are..........the grass in the galvanized pots were real rye grass....only Terri would think of real grass.......and it only took 7 days I think for it to get this tall......then we added the little bunny hiding in the grass........
For my class each kit was this bag above with all of their goodies to make their needle books including a pin cushion and pair of embroidery scissors....
And look at Terri showing off her sewing skills.....she has never done anything like this before and we all were surprised she sat and slow stitched......... she stuck with it and just between you and me I think she had fun.....who knows she may become a stitcher after all.......Good Job Terri Brush!!!!!!
Don't you just love seeing these creative students slow stitching........they really all did an amazing job and hopefully had fun in the process.......a few of them had not ever stitched but they took off and stitched away.
This is one project we did........they are made out of wood clay.......you form them, emboss with rubber stamps, let dry, paint, and then you add the copper to solder.....add all your extra things and you have these beautiful necklaces..........I made 3..I need to finish the middle one......so fun to make and the wood clay is really another medium I have never worked with!
here are a few of some of the gals.....
Our second project with Terri was this darling shrine with a vintage class dome......these are some of the girls below
Joy (below) with Terri is the main chef in charge........always in the kitchen preparing for the next meal......the food is always wonderful when Terri and Joy have anything to do with it. I always come home with the best recipes.......thank you Joy and never a dull moment when she is around!
And last year I told you about my personal Uber that picks me up at the Seattle airport.....below is sweet Karen......what can I say about someone who will drive down from the Canadian border to pick up a stranger ( last year we were but we are friends now) and then drive another hour and half to Terris.......she is one of a kind...........last year on my return home we had to leave Terri's house at 4 in the morning to get to the airport on time.....this year it was snowing when we left for the airport and she had to scrape snow off the windshield....that tells you what kind of a person this gal is.....she goes above and beyond....thank you thank you thank you Karen
here she is getting the windshield clean
below is my shrine.........I decided she looked a little French so her little banner is GOOD GRIEF GIRDIE in French......
Well that is another spring workshop adventure in Terri's studio..........fun times spent with old and new friends just creating some new techniques to use in projects and having fun while in the process...........Thank You to all who traveled to Washington. I love getting to know other creative souls from other states. We all love to do the same thing and hopefully our paths will cross again more than likely.........and a huge Thank You to Terri for always making each of us feel special and all she does to make her classes, retreats and workshops so unbelievable.....she is one of a kind that is for sure!
Hope you all are having a great holiday week........

You know spring has arrived in Oklahoma when the Red Buds start showing off........before I left for Washington they had already been blooming for about a week.... keeping my fingers crossed I was hoping when I got back we would still have the pink blooms on before they started turning........ this afternoon got out the loppers and started to cut away.........I absolutely LOVE these beautiful pink trees!
Tomorrow check back.......... I will share my photos of the Weekend Workshop at the Terri Brush studio........above is a sneak peek at one of the projects........we all had a great time and made some wonderful art and met some new art friends.........see you tomorrow!
HAPPY TUESDAY..............

I am always trying to figure out ways to incorporate a little shrink in different project.....these needle books needed a little jazzing up so instead of the usual button clasp on the side to close the books I decided to add a shrink button.......these needle books are really fun and easy to make ......old cutter quilts make the best books!
Hope you all are enjoying some springy weather.....HAPPY WEDNESDAY........
