Over the weekend I was getting ready to have a couple of young artists over to teach them how to punch needle and came across this new pattern I designed over this past winter and completely forgot about but first let me share these sweet little girls with you.....
These 2 little girls are a dear friends Grandaughters.......while we were on vacation I received a text from the Grandmother with the photo below of her 6 1/2 year old granddaughter doing punch needle ..........so she asked when we returned home if I could show her how to and of course I said yes.....alway fun to teach young ones something fun..........Saturday afternoon they came over and I showed them how to and they both did an amazing job and so much fun to see how excited they got........(at 6 1/2 and 8 years old I can't believe they could even hold the needle)
That evening Ellie got to spend the night with the Grandparents and here she is at the table punching............
Next weekend it will be McKinleys night to stay with the Grandparents.........isn't it nice to see kids who are interested in doing something besides technical stuff.......I love it.....
As they were leaving they got to pick a paper doll pick to take with them......
Thank You McKinley, Ellie and Debbie (Mimi) for a fun Saturday afternoon..........I hope you enjoy punching and can't wait to see what all you do with those creative minds.....
So here is the Sacred Heart punch needle in 3 color variations........if anyone is interested in purchasing this pattern, please email me at jpeter@cox.net.....the piece measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/2...
HAPPY MONDAY and the start of a great week.........

I decided I needed to get a few things out for Fall......I don't really have to much but what I do have is very minimal.....
These porcelain pumpkin head dolls I made years ago always show up in my fall decorating and I always love getting them out....along with them this year I did buy this cute little Ghost doll when we were in Salt Lake City this summer
Hope you all have a great day.........Happy Thursday!!!!

51 years ago right now I came to Oklahoma from California to start College at Bethany Nazarene College ( now Southern Nazarene University)......the dorm I lived in was called Hatley Hall and it was brand new. In fact the 4th and 5th floors were the only floors ready when school started and those were the freshman floors ...........so the upper class girls had to bunk up with us freshman for several weeks while they finished the 3 bottom floors. Anyway the years have passed and they found out that the structure wasn't safe anymore so this summer they tore it down and what a sad day to see it brought down......so many fond memories......but I guess if you look on the positive side it mean progress!
The President of the school now Keith Newman and his wife Carolyn were our neighbors until last February when they moved just around the corner from us but we still stay in touch .......last weekend they stopped by and this brick was all wrapped up with this card in it:
What a great gift and memorable one...........Thank You Keith and Carolyn for this thoughtful gift!
Here are a few photos of the dorm being torn down....
We would drive by everyday while this was going on to see the progress being made.........this week we drove by and its flat and grassy green ready for the next phase whatever that may be......
You never know what a memory a brick might bring you..............Happy Tuesday afternoon!

Decided since I had another one cut out to try and figure out why the first one didn't ........so here is the second one and I think I figured out what I did wrong........this one is just a bit smaller and decided to add a few cut out pieces from the Cathe Holden Flea Market line of fabric that I have used in other projects......then for the pull of the zipper added these little tassels to give it a little color.....anyway thought I would share these two little scissor cases but probably won't be making more because two is enough for me.......oh and my new labels with my name.......
I do have to say though a lesson learned on how to cut down a zipper and add a stop at each end with fabric......so if you are ever in need of a smaller zipper there is a way to make one fit your project........
Hope you all are enjoying another September fall day..........do something creative today...........

Well sometimes an idea will back fire on you and it wasn't like you had expected that is exactly what happened to me.........I have wanted to make these scissor bags for a while but could not find a pattern so I bought a rectangle pattern and did a few adjustments that I thought would work and well.........its finished and looks okay from the front but the inside isn't so good..........everything was working out just great and after I had sewn the lining to the bag well that is when I decided to look back at the directions and I GOOFED big time........had to take it all apart and that is no fun and usually I would just start over but I had already attached the zipper and heart on so I just salvaged it and I will not show you the way I finished the inside.......at least a few pair of scissors will fit in...........
Trial and error for sure.........and I thought I would make a bunch of these........hmmmmmmmm maybe not!!!!
hope you are enjoying your weekend..........

While on vacation I took some of my hand sewing projects to work on and just didn't do as much as I thought ........but I did finish all of the handwork on my Japanese Rice bag...... when we returned home I put it together and here it is all finished......
In May when I was in Seattle I found this orange/white quilt ......it is in really good shape but has a little worn spot here and there but is a great cutter quilt......I used some of the Cathe Holden Flea Market fabrics along with Tula Pink........In side the bag I used a colorful towel a student gave me that has HAPPY in big letters, thought it was the perfect fabric for this colorful bag.......and instead of using rope like I have used for some of the other bags I have made I decided to make a twisted rope out of scrap fabric as the ties......I had forgotten how to make them so my friend put me onto a tutorial and then it all came back and last night I made several just to have later.......
here is the bottom and inside:
Here is the Pattern if anyone is interested.......you can go on line to buy one...........
the one below is the one I made for a friend........different colors but so fun and colorful.......they really are easy to make and you can add as much or little as you want.....I need to finish the ones I had cut out for the trip and get them made and sell if anyone is interested..........
Happy Thursday.......do something creative today!

Have you ever heard of Kamut flour? I had not until a few months ago ( a friend told me about it) ........This flour is grown in Montana and they ship all over the world.....
Here is a little bit about how I even found out about it.....I went to the Food Nanny website to see what it was all about and started reading about this Ancient Grain and how it is beneficial health wise......it is 100% organic, non gmo, great flavor, lower gluten, high in protein, and overall is grown in the US....The 2 women who discovered it ( mom and daughter) were over in Italy traveling and they asked a chef about why their breads/pizza etc. tasted so good and they said its Kamut flour.....long story short they did find out it was grown over in the US and now they are the distributors for Kamut.......they sell on line and have a warehouse in Salt Lake City.....I have ordered from them on line and also made a little trip to the warehouse and bought up some more goodies.....if you go to their website you can read all about this mother/daughter duo and all about how they got started. They have 3 cookbooks now and the one I have is the latest...also I bought one of their dough whisks ........check it out.........
And today I made bread....my house smells so good right now............I wish you all were here to have a slice...........
I have always loved making homemade bread and was anxious to see how this compares to regular white all purpose flour and it is REALLY GOOD.......the flour is more yellow because it hasn't been processed.....you use a little less than regular and bake it for less depending on your oven........these rolls I just sprinkled on some herbs and butter.......... I guess we will have homemade rolls for dinner....and that is just fine with me!!!!!
If you have a minute and want to check them out go to the Food Nanny.com..........let me know
HAPPY WEDNESDAY...............
