For those of you attended Terri's retreat last weekend here is the way I construct the book cover for a journal and the one we used in class...sorry it's taken so long!
You can get these book boards from Amazon and I usually get the 9x12. It makes the perfect size journal but I have used the 8x10 and its just a week bit small and also works great!
Step # 1
cut the board in half which would be 6"
cut a strip out of the same board ( a different piece of board but the same kind) that is 12 by 1/2'- 3/4 " depending on how wide you want the spine.
lay it out:
Step # 2
using double sided tape run a strip of tape to cover the length of each board to connect the spine
do this on the front and back.........
now you are ready to cover.......I usually cut the paper I am covering the journal with on the side of the tape and glue down so I can use a decorative piece of paper, fabric or velvet for the spine. I do the same for the inside but don't put fabric or velvet on the inside spine. I usually just use paper.....
This is really the easiest way I have found to cover a book journal. I hope this answers any questions. If you do have any questions feel free to leave me a comment and I will try to answer them!
have a great day........
Thank you Jackie!

You punch a hole on the top and bottom of the spine and thread the signatures to the thread and tie a knot! The pages are doubled in half.. Hope that makes sense! The girls in the class knew how to attach them and I wanted them to know how I made the covers because they were already put together in their kits!
