A few weeks back I enrolled in Amy Hanna's "Get Your Badge On" online class.........to say it hit my hot button it did. I knew with ALL of the stuff I have been accumulating for years would now come in handy. When I first watched the video's I thought wow how does she figure out what goes with what and how big should I make them etc. etc.........once you get started it all falls into place and you just start thinking of all kinds of things.
Amy uses a lot of tintype photos. I have been collecting them for years so I have incorporated some of them.........of course these aren't finished but the start of something and then I will add and connect what needs to be connected.
I loved this pair of scissors with a guys name engraved on them....... this photo works perfect
oh the possibilities...........
So that is what's on my worktable this week............and having fun!
Happy Wednesday all............

You know what time of year it is when those red bud trees start showing off their beautiful pink blooms.........
AND.........
Baseball season starts.............
IT'S SPRING TIME IN OKLAHOMA and this girl could not be any happier! Besides summer I love spring because I know summer is just around the corner. We can put away our wintery clothing and start wearing flip flops, sandals and open the windows to let some of that fresh spring air in! I always feel like a new person when JAn Feb and March is over..........I come out of my hibernation shell!!!! Oh Happy Day!!!!
After yesterdays post of Jenn's class I forgot to show you my doll.........here she is! I did have a little help from Jenn with her eyes and lips.........for some reason I have never been able to get lips the way I like them so I handed her my doll to work her magic!!!!! I think her name is going to be TULA........!
Well people it's a new week and Easter is this weekend. I need to get my act together if we are having family and friends over..........changing my menu up this year and I will let you know what I decided .........I am really tired of the traditional HAM on Easter........so we will see!
Happy Monday..........and SPRING!

For the past 12 years we have made a lot of memories in the classroom in the back of the Paper Crown.........each one holds memories we will all cherish and never forget.......some of you have been around for all of them and some have slipped in from time to time and we always have newcomers that we love to welcome.......this weekend was no exception.......with one of our favorite and special guest teachers Jenn Mcglon and as many of you know her as Noodle and Lou, we had the best time creating one of her whimsical sculptured dolls! ANd for those of you who think you can't do this.......YOU CAN!!!! We had many doubters at the first of class that thought no way but by the end of class they were all pleasantly surprised and proud of their finished doll. And because of this it has to do with the teacher and her techniques......this is why Jenn is such a wonderful teacher! So so important as a student to walk away with something you have made yourself and all because of the way it is taught and the person who taught the class......that is why we all have come to love Jenn and her sweet personality and talent.......need I say more. I could but I will stop there and show some of the photos from saturdays class.
The polymer clay before they are baked.........
Becky made this sweet punch needle doll plaque Jenn is holding......so darling and from a pattern our friend and guest teacher next month Cindy Mayfield designed. We are so excited we finally got Cindy to agree to come and teach after several years of begging.........
We all went away being proud mama's of our sweet little dolls and hopefully it won't be our last time to take a class from this talented lady..........Thanks once again Jenn for another enjoyable class at the Paper Crown........you are one of a kind!!!!!!!
So with that being said hope you all have a great sunday and hopefully the start of a great week...

There is really no good way for stamps to be displayed so here is what's behind the doors that are closed........several years ago I got rid of a lot of stamps and here is what I have left with another drawer full.......but I really don't have as many as you would think! When the doors are shut you don't see any of this.

This is where I sit and my view...........Now I can see my floor, find what I need and feel like I can get ready to start a bunch of new projects without having to dig through boxes and containers or go buy it once again, even though I might have already bought something several times and can't find it in the mess.......It can get out of control really fast and I always tell my husband that I will try harder, but..........
This cart holds journals, journaling bibles and calendar......you can see my calendar on top that I leave so I can see every day what's going on...if it's closed like this I don't even look.....but if it's open like the photo below it makes me stop to see if I have anything going on that day!
Well I think that sums up how my week has gone but every minute spent going through stuff and purging feels so good and taking inventory of everything will keep me from spending more $ on unnecessary extra STUFF........... and as you can tell this room isn't very big so I have to utilize what I have and those big ugly plastic containers don't go with the decor..........if you know what I mean!
Happy thursday all and excited for Saturday when out friend Jenn (aka. noodle and lou) will be here to teach one of her fun clay doll classes.......see you all bright and early saturday!

Just getting back from a few days away and thought I would give you an update on the bathroom remodel...........finally got both fixtures up and both of the vanity mirrors......if you remember the mirror on that wall was 9 ft.........so I decided to break it up with two beveled mirrors going horizontally. I had intended all along to go vertical with the mirrors but it made more sense to go horizontal because of the light fixtures and sinks aren't lined up........when you remodel there is always a catch somewhere. I am still looking for the right towel bars and a few other accessories. But as far as being finished , we are about 95% finished!
Now for a little scary photo and one I show you about once a year because my workroom gets totally out of control ,check it out.................
this could not go on any longer..........I was about to pull my hair out and I told my husband while we were gone this weekend that this is the week for me to tear into this disaster.......so yesterday I pulled it all out and slowly but surely going through and purging the stuff I don't need!
Am I the only one who ends up with this mess............I have no easy solution but to have it look like this to not finding what I need to making a big change and just dig in and do it......how does this happen??????????? Anyway I am well on my way to make things a little better and I will not show you the photo of the closet before!!!!! Scary!
I hope things go a little better today making heads or tails of what the inventory is looking like around here.....
hope you all are having a great spring break and hopefully enjoying some warm weather!

So there it is all in these cute little books of goodness............you will be making 1 book each with 3 signatures inside to bind together .........closer to the time of class and only if you want to share any of your favorite quotes/sayings/scriptures you can email them to me and I will copy them and have them ready for class. If you don't want to share you will just bring what you want as far as that goes but I will have plenty of them for each of you in a handout. Now from this day forward any time you have a piece of scrap ribbon , paper or ephemera put it aside because we will be using all kinds of bits and pieces of left over stuff..........and girls I have plenty to share and I know you do to. I want this class to be a creative way to use up all those scraps and to collect those funny sayings, quotes or favorite scripture we all enjoy hearing or saying.........so check you calendars for April 24.......I hope to see all those smiling Paper Crown familiar faces!
Hope your week is a springy one........HAPPY MONDAY!

These Easter Eggs are so easy to make ............
here are the supplies and easy step by step:
paper mache eggs
modge podge
cheese cloth
paint ( whatever color you want to use)
gold leaf pen and gold acrylic metalic paint
flowers , preferably vintage or whatever you like
ribbon
boullion wire ( optional)
step 1.
wrap your egg with cheese cloth and paint with mod podge to adhere to egg....
let it dry
step 2. paint and let dry
step 3. splatter with gold paint and then randomly using your gold leaf pen dab pen all over egg to add a little gold.
step 4. add your ribbon and glue some flowers to the top of egg
If you want to add the boullion wire, wrap the wire around the ribbon bow and flowers. It just adds a little more dimension.
that's it and they are really quick and add that little fun addition to your easter table........
if you have any questions leave in comment, and if you make these let me know how they turned out.....
happy diy saturday

Isn't it fun to see a classroom full of kind, sweet faces and know they are all enjoying creating something fun ............it always does my heart good to have a full classroom! I have said this for the past 11-12 years but once again I say "thank you" girls for always coming to class and working hard to finish your project ........sometimes my stuttering trying to explain something or forgetting some of the supplies, you have always been there cheering me on and laughing with me along the way. Like Cindy said in her last post about getting ready to close the store the last of April that there are no words........and I even hate to say this or think it but I have only 1 more class to teach. April 24 will be my last class and I hope you all will join me for one last evening spending time with friends we have made over the past 12 years.........oh dear that was a tough one girls..........sorry!
here is the recipe from last night
well now that I have said what I needed to say have a good friday and weekend...........
