pom poms/tassels/shrink and a giveaway........

When you try to photograph something this tiny and not easily to hold you do it in bunches and they look better bunched up than individual anyway...........last week Cindy got in the cutest stamps of these little faces/arms/legs .......as soon as I saw them and how little they were I knew something from the shrink stash would work perfectly and so this is what became of some the shrink...........I haven't decided yet what to do with them but I will let you know when I do.

So if your wondering what the jumbled up mess is they are key rings that will attach to a purse that has a piece of hardware or zipper.......they each have a pom pom and tassel with some kind of shrink.......I thought with the female shrink they would be fun to put on a back pack zipper...........the only thing is they are a little bit fragile (the shrink baubbles) but other than that the pom pom and tassels are okay........anyway that is what I made out of all those wool felted balls and yarn pom poms........the shrink came along at the right time to put them all together.......

 

Now for the giveaway.  I would like to give one of the pom pom key chains and maybe some other little shrink surprise..........so from now until thursday August 3 leave me a comment of anything you would like to..........I will announce the winner on friday August 4!

Like anything else the more you practice the more familiar you are, that is so true with this Shrink plastic.....over the weekend Julie Haymaker taught so many different techniques to this fun plastic medium and techniques I never thought could be accomplished............Julie has her own company called 'Shrinkets' and you can go to her website @ Julie Haymaker and get all the information and free tutorials on anything shrink.........she loves to share!

You all know by now how much I love this stuff and kind of dabbled a little in Shrink Plastic and always trying to add a little in my teaching projects. Usually it's always a flat surface and sometimes tried to manipulate the plastic in shapes.  Well with Julie's handy dandy molds you can now make these cute little Tiffany Lamp shades and make all sorts of colorful shrink flower looking baubbles..........it's truly a fun and very addictive thing!!!!!!  And you know how I am............

Wearing Wonderland bracelet was so much fun and you can see by these photos how colorful and whimsical ............(it's really hard to photograph though)

Well that's all I have today!  If you ever have the chance to take any of Julie's classes I highly recommend them.....truly they are so much fun and everything comes with the class, you just show up!  Like I said above go to her website and check out her wonderful shop and where she will be teaching ........ You don't want to miss out on such a fun fun class and Julie is one with more energy than the Energizer Bunny!

I almost forgot......this is the necklace I made in the sunday class..........this took as long if not longer than the bracelet.....metal work and soldering was involved but we sure learned a lot!

a shrinking weekend............

This past weekend we all had the pleasure of taking some Shrink Art classes from the Talented Julie Haymaker.......we all went away with some beautiful pieces of jewelry and enjoyed the process of Julie' s expertise teaching of all things Shrink and Metal.  She is so knowledgeable in Art and it's so interesting what and how she teaches from her Art background.  Thank You Julie from each of us............ we all learned so many wonderful techniques and how you love to share  them with all who enter your classroom.

Here are a few photos from the weekend.  I wasn't able to take all 3 at the Paper Crown but I do know Cindy will have photos from those classes up on her blog this week.

 

I hope I got photos of everyone who attended Sundays class......if not I apologize!  Anyway I hope by these photos you can tell how much fun we had using torches, hammers, solder, patina, flux, pliers, shrink, colored pencils whatever it took to complete our beautiful necklaces........ we all went away feeling like we had covered it all........Thanks again Julie for teaching us Okies all about metal and shrink.....and of course thank you Cindy for another opportunity to have such a talented and well known artist at the Paper Crown!  

I will have more photos tomorrow about the bracelet I made with shrink and a few photos of before and after the shrink is shrunk........ha!!!!

Travel Journal Class Highlights.......

What a group of gals last night.........they all did an outstanding job on their 2017 Travel Beach themed journals.......!  You always come to class to work and hopefully have fun, Thank You!

I will have some photos of the Julie Haymaker weekend ...........come back on monday for some photos..........all I can say she has taken Shrink Plastic to a whole new level.......and I love it! You all know how much I love Shrink!!!!! You will not believe what we made...........

computer problems once again........

I have taken off in this woody and I am not coming back.............ha ha ha!  Well I am having some computer problems once again and if you have tried to email me I am not receiving them and I apologize. Hang with me and I hope to get this solved and I will get back to all who have sent me emails in the last week.........

And  a little side note of this car..........it was taken in San Luis Obispo several years ago and if you can see the sign above it says Bulls Tavern........ I have a funny story to tell about Bulls Tavern.  When Tom and I moved to SLO our phone no. was the same as Bulls Tavern with one number different .......so in the middle of the night we would get some interesting phone calls......and Tom would answer most of the time with He or She left about 10 minutes ago and headed to(usually some place around town).................yes he did, several times!

And you all know my dream car is a woody........someday!!!!!

Tula Pink/Christmas in July..........really

She has gone and done it once again " Tula Pink"..........this gal is one of the most talented fabric/quilt designers right now........ if you like all that is whimsical and fun!!!!!  Several months ago my friend Nancy sent me a text and photo of these Dogs, deer and geese with Christmas sweaters, glasses and antlers.............I went crazy of course!  Anyway the release date of these fabrics wasn't going to be available until the middle July!  Well it's July and here is a little glimpse of what is in the making on my worktable!  I added the brown felt antlers to the dog, he just needed some!

I really thought I was going to turn these into stockings but I decided on pillows instead.......more people love pillows and can use them anywhere and stockings not so much!  I hope to make several and you never know they may even have pom pom and tassels on them somewhere...............

 

This is the other piece I started and may turn it into a quilt , wall hanging or pillow............I have added as you can see some velvet in places and embroidered a lot of the flowers in different stitches!  It's really bright and colorful. If  I do decide to make a quilt I may tone down the background surrounding fabrics........or it may be a pillow, just depends on how much time I want to spend on it!  

when it's 100 outside stitching is something you can do inside!

birthday weekend.........

We celebrated my mom's 87th birthday over the weekend......my brother, sister in law and their grandaughter was here from Austin so we celebrated a little early........

To say the least we had a great time........these two are two peas in a pod!  To bad they don't live closer.  Avila is my brothers grandaughter .....she was named after Avila Beach in California! Her dad is a big water/surfer/water polo/swimmer so it was fitting to name her after this beach we grew up going to.

At 87 years old she is still going strong........in fact last week she was up on a ladder painting my sisters kitchen!  Can't keep her down.

Travel Journal Class..........

For those of you who will be coming to the Travel Journal Class here is your list of things you will need to bring:

 

crop a dile

corner rounder

distressed ink you like to use

paper trimmer

sand paper

glue stick or whatever you use to adhere your paper

scissors

gold leaf pen if you like to go around the edges with gold

and if you have washi tape and any kind of summer papers and doo da's bring those.......since the theme is kind of red white and blue you might keep that in mind when bringing any extras

it's friday.......and a class photo (kind of)

Last night was relaxing and maybe to relaxing because we all laughed so hard that we were hurting!!!  Our friend Lisa has been absent from classes for a while with some health issues so last night she made up for lost time!!!!!! Like Peggy said "laughing is good for the soul", and I think all our souls are caught up for the next year!!!! Thank you girls for coming to class and making it so much fun..........sorry we  didn't finish but you all had it almost complete........We missed Robn and Nancy and hope you two are feeling much better!!!!!

 

Let me just explain about the next photo.........out of 5 taken of these 4 gals I had to crop because they would of killed me if I would of posted their faces.........sorry girls!  This is the best I could of done without hurting anyones feelings.......anyway look how cool these turned out......  I hope you girls enjoy them and know they are all hand sewn and nothing by the machine!!!!!  Great Job!

 

IT's friday and the weekend ahead is a busy one........celebrating my mom's 87th birthday.......photos next week!
