Our first class was Friday afternoon and it was all about Heart/Love notes....
We started out like this........
and ended up with these....
We learned so many new techniques using so many products I have never used before so it was fun! They all turned out different and unique! I have never used modeling paste before and loved the finished dimensions on these little note cards!
Friday evening it was all about lettering and you know me that is my thing......LOVED IT!
Stephanie had us all do different kinds of exercises to get all loosened up and find your own personal lettering with helpful hints on shadowing and doodling......we had practice sheets and just had fun doing our own thing with her helping find fun ways to letter in our Journals or Bibles. As the teacher always says Practice Practice Practice.......
Saturday morning we returned to class all excited to get going on the Canvas journals and the insides of the journals.......
We started out with a blank canvas and I didn't get a before photo but the strips of canvas were maybe 36' long by 8" wide........we Gessoed, added paint and took paint off with baby wipes....stenciled, added more paint, adding white and black circles, stamping words and just creating whatever you wanted ....after they dried we used white signo pens to outline and add little do da's here and there...we broke for lunch and the canvas's needed to dry so we could continue on the Journal Journey!
By now we were all so into making the journals I did not get step by step on how we started from 5 pieces of cardstock paper, library card envelopes and tags..... I have never in my life used a Gelli Plate, and I know I am behind times but this is what we all used to paint the plain ole cardstock paper. After you apply the paint on the Gelli plate with a brayer you press your paper onto it and it makes this amazing painted effect.....you then can press any stencil on to the plate to make an impression and then your paper once again.....you can go on and on and on....really much more fun than I thought it would be to be honest with you. And let's just say for the record IT GETS REALLY MESSY!!!!!! But fun.
After all the painting of the cardstock pages, tags and library envelopes we painted big circles on the big sheets of paper and did basically what we did on the covers and outlines with black and white, then added washi tape and scriptures with more tape or you could slide them into the envelopes. Stephanie then punched the holes in each of our journals and covers and we tied them with string and our journals were complete! Whew.......I think everyone really enjoyed each process of each and every class because we all had finished projects to take home and use! I wished you could of seen some of these beautiful pieces of art these gals made....
What a great way to spend the weekend creating and learning and being around people who are positive and giving of their talents!
Thank You once again Stephanie for sharing your talents with us Okies! We have been blessed more than you will ever know! Hope you will return...........
( just a little note we have changed our Mix and Mingle to next monday evening)
