Every year in the fall I try to take a girls trip out to Santa Barbara.........well this year we changed it up a bit........ we were about two weeks later than usual and went to Phoenix and celebrated Susan's 50th birthday......... and of course Jill had a few surprises like these flip flops!
We relaxed, slept in, sat by the pool, shopped a little and ate some wonderful food. It's always good to have recommendations on restaurants, and we were lucky enough to get those from my daughter in laws aunt who lives in Phoenix! ( Thank You Donna and Betsy, we tried several and were not disappointed)
We even played cards out by the pool and a new game Jill taught us, Kings in the corner!
My camera is still acting up and I didn't get a bunch of photos. This is the only one of the 3 of us and it was on the first day in front of the Hotel........that camera is going to the camera shop monday morning! I need it for Glittered Retreat next weekend.........and so I won't make this a long post because I really don't have to many photos..........
One store I did have to visit since I have read about this place on so many different blogs over the years. Melrose Vintage...........we arrived 30 minutes before they closed and I could of stayed for several hours , maybe it's a good thing ! Oh my if you are ever in Phoenix and love wonderful fabrics, shabby chic furniture and all sorts of Paper Art supplies you have to go! They also teach Paper Art classes and you get to sit in and around all of these wonderful old pieces of furniture and displays while in class........
Well that is all I have for you today..........now its off to get ready for the big Retreat next weekend. I hope everyone attending is as excited as we are. I know if you go to the Paper Crown blog this week Cindy will be posting some photos to get you all ready for another great time! So off to work I go!
Have a great weekend!

I have been trying to do a little indoor and outdoor Fall decorating......not to much but just enough to welcome the season........my dining room table is just a few real cinderella pumpkins, dried hydrangeas from last year, seeded euycaluptus leaves, mini pumpkins, metal rusted leaves I bought at the Dallas Market in June, some fig branches from last year and a few other things I thought would finish off the centerpiece.......I also added the two black hurricanes on each side!
White pumpkins in each of my entrance urns in the front.........
My buffet in the dining room has dried gourds with a little bittersweet and more dried hydrangea!
I have a few other places I have added a little of this and that..............not to mentions this below
We are candle fanatics in my house.......Cindy just got in a new shipment of fall scented candles and this particular one is called Mexican Pumpkin........you can see how much I have already burned down. I usually don't like real fakey smells but this one smells really good.........Stop by the Paper Crown and smell each one and I guarantee you will walk out the door with one........I told Cindy the other night when she had this one burning while I was having class that it made me hungry! Go figure........
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend with all kinds of things we do when fall is in the air! The Oklahoma state Fair is going on, football games, weddings, school and church functions, going to the local nursery to buy pumpkins, mums, pansies and bulbs to plant........so whatever you plan on doing ENJOY!

Thanks girls for coming to class and always willing to just get in there and work until the job is completed! I love teaching you all and you make my job so much fun. I will be taking some time off after Glittered Retreat to regroup and recharge and will be back in 2015 with new classes and some new ideas and techniques!

First of all I mentioned to the girls in class last night I would give the recipe for Homemade Butterfingers. Really these bars are so GOOD and so easy you won't believe it..........
Recipe:
3 cups candy corn
1 16oz. jar creamy peanut butter
2 cups white chocolate
Line an 8x8 baking dish with foil or parchment paper.
In a microwave bowl melt the candy corn in 30 sec. intervals. Stirring between each interval, until the candy is completely melted. Stir in peanut butter, until smooth. Pour into prepared pan and smooth the top. Let the mixture cool completely. ( I put in ref. to speed this up)
Remove candy from baking dish by pulling up on the corners. cut the candy into 1" candy bars.
Melt white chocolate in microwave stirring every 12 seconds until smooth. Dip each bar into chocolate to coat completely and place on wax paper to let harden. You can also put in refr. to speed up!
While the chocolate is still warm add a candy corn on top........
Now would you rather have a store bought butterfinger or homemade? You make these and decide for yourself.......( I dipped some of these in melted semi sweet chocolate and really the white chocolate is the way to go...........
Well girls you did it again! You all finished in record time and did an amazing job! ( Nellie and Arlene you all left early and before you finish your box I need to give you one important piece to finish, I will have them for you on tuesday night when you come to class, sorry)
And now for the winner of this Glittered Chariot is Beth Boothe ongratulations.......girl you are in luck this time! ( I will take it to the PC and you can pick it up anytime you are in town.)
I want to thank all of your comments this time and how sweet and personal each and everyone of them made me feel.........the day of my 1000 post this is what I had on my statistic view

Looking back 1000 posts on this blog doesn't even seem possible. I can remember the first time I hit the publish button.........I was so nervous to even think anyone would read what I wrote! Thanks to all of you I have loosened up a bit and not so nervous about writing, since it is not my favorite thing to do.........I wasn't ever a real scholar and still make plenty of mistakes but like my husband always tells me it's not the end of the world and they aren't looking at the spelling and punctuation anyway.......well anyway I have had fun!
I have this darling pumpkin chariot to giveaway.......the back has an opening to light with a candle or twinkle lights ( candle and lights not included)........I will even add a couple of my Halloween Paper Dolls to go along with this sweet glittered chariot...........leave me a comment starting today until thursday evening September 11 and a winner will be posted on friday morning September 12.....what was your favorite post on this blog for your comment.......Thank You all who follow this blog!
Happy Monday!
