While I was getting my kits ready for my class this week I thought I would share once again what and how to shrink plastic to make these fun tiny little creations......if you have the basic tools and a little patience you can have some fun!
this is what you will need
shrink plastic- I have loved and always get the best results from the shrinky dink plastic in the ruff and ready from Hobby Lobby........they have several different types but you don't have to sand the ruff and ready and I like the results of the paler look......
heat gun- this is very IMPORTANT.........the Ranger "Heat it" is by far the best. You need to use a heat tool with a short nozzle.....DO NOT USE THE LONG nozzle heat guns..........you will have more control with the shorter.......believe me from experience and teaching how to shrink you definitely need to go buy one, it will be well worth the money and no frustration..........
staz on stamp pad- permanent ink
wooden skewer- any type of skinny long wooden handle ..........paint brush, chop stick or the cheap skewers for shish-kabobs!
kraft sheet-you can get these at craft stores.......this keeps the shrink from sticking to the surface.
colored pencils or pastels-I prefer the pastels.......remember when you shrink the colors intensify so use color lightly.
whole punch-if you want these to be tied to a string be sure you make the whole big enough so when it shrinks it will be large enough to tie your string or ribbon on.
I think you will love doing this old craft.........it really is fun and always adds a little fun dimension to whatever project you are working on.
