C. Perez's oozing talents................

Have you ever met someone and feel like you have known them forever.............last summer I met up with this kind of person!  We met last June in Dallas at the Gilded weekend!  Her name is Charlotte and she is one of a kind.  Robin introduced me to this lady and I knew immediately she was my kind of gal because she had the most beautiful red lipstick on.....  and those of you who know me know I LOVE red lips! Anyway she sat across from me at dinner the first evening of this weekend long event, and she kept us all in stitches.  Her laugh is contagious , she is a dear soul and OH SO TALENTED! I was blown away with how creative she is.  She brought her goods to sell on vendors night of the event!  Her jewelry was out of this world not to mention the  way she displayed everything!  The item above is how she displayed her business cards..........how clever!  I knew after the weekend that we needed to get this gal to OKC for the Paper Crown Glitter Market last fall..........she agreed to come. She decided to make some of these unique photo/business card/recipe holders to sell.........this one came home with me!  

Now that you all have an idea of how creative and unique this gal is I hope we can get her to come back in the fall for another Paper Crown Glitter Markets! Charlotte your the best!  Thank You for sharing your talents with us all up her in OKC!  Please come back..........we can't wait to see what you will bring next time! ( she does not have a blog or website but we are trying to get her to start one)

Monday hello...........

Those of you taking this class thursday evening, you will need to bring your basic class kit along with a distress ink pad of your choice, sand paper and if you want to add your personal photos inside you will need to bring those.  I will see all of you gals at 5:30 thursday evening March 15!

Another wonderful sunny spring day here in Oklahoma.....we are loving this weather!

decorating a little................

I am finally getting around to painting and decorating one of my guest rooms ( use to be our son's room)! 

When I was deciding on the color scheme I knew exactly what I wanted to use on the bedding but was undecided on what color to do the walls.  Those of you who know me know I am a light colored wall person..........I love light in my house!  So I tried several colors on a sample board and came up with a Sherwin WIlliams color called Anew Gray.  All of the new bedding is in neutral colors and linen.  I did not want it to be to gray or to brown or to white so this was in between all those colors........it was harder to come up with a color than I thought.  Well it turned out exactly the way I wanted and hopefully by the next two weeks I will show you this room all finished, but for now these are just a few shots.....

Honeycomb Book Class.........

These girls all did an amazing job in class last night.  Their books all turned out beautiful and oh so whimsical!  Great Job!

Here is the recipe for these Brown Butter Sugar Cookies:

cookies

2 sticks butter

1 cup sugar

pinch of salt

3 egg yolks

1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla paste

2 1/3 cup flour

sugar for rolling

Beat butter and sugar together.  Add the egg yolks and salt, mix well.  Add the soda and vanilla and fold in the flour.  Stir until combined.  ( I did mix this slightly with my mixer just until blended).  Form balls the size of walnut and chill in refri. for 1 hour.  Take out and roll each ball in sugar and place on parchment lined cookie sheet!  Press each cookie with the bottom of glass.  Bake at 350 for 8-10min. or until lightlly browned.  Remove from cookie sheet and let cool completely before frosting.

 

brown butter frosting

1 stick butter

1 tsp. vanilla paste

4 cups powder sugar

1/2 cup heavy cream

In small skillet brown the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown with little brown flecks.  Stir until it cooks evenly.  Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add the cooled butter to the powdered sugar, vanilla and cream.  Beat until creamy  and spread on cooled cookies........

These are soooooooooooo good!  The brown butter makes these plain ole sugar cookies one of the best!

spring flowers and fish tacos.........

I love all these wonderful spring colors in a plain old turquoise ball jar..........simple!

Thought I'd share a fast and delicious meal with you..........it only takes minutes to fix!  I promise!

 

Fish Tacos:

I use these frozen Tilapia fillets right from the freezer........saute in a little butter in your fry pan.

Cut up red ( or green) cabbage with some red and yellow peppers.

Heat up some tortillas, whatever your choice is.  I like wheat or the grain tortillas.

Mix a little mayo with a little dill relish..........make enough for how many tacos you will be eating.  You will need 1-2 tsp. of the sauce for every taco.  Or more if you like alot!

And if you want to spice it up a little add some Jalapeno's to your liking.......

When you are ready to serve fill each tortilla with some of the chopped up cabbage/slaw, add some fish and a little tartar sauce and you have a meal.  So fast, so easy and it is really good!  Try it some night when you are in a hurry and don't know what to fix.  It is always a hit at my house.

Bee Keeper's Tea Book

This class is full but we may try and do another one like this in the summer with a couple bathing beauties.

Those of you taking this class on tuesday March 6 you will need to bring your basic class kit.  You will also need to bring a book that measures approx. 5x6 ( if you don't have one I do have a few extras, just email me and let me know if you need one at [email protected])  make sure the pages in your book are not brittle, they need to be soft enough to fold in half without breaking!  See you girls at 5:30!

 

 

March 15- 5:30-9:00

Little Black Dress photo book

In this class we will make the cover out of chip board and make the pages to fit your book.  We will add all kinds of little dresses inside.  A great little book to put all those special photos of little girls young and old!  Basic class kit!

April 5 - Spring Dress Banner 5:30-9:00

Each little dress has a sweet photo, embellishments and all sorts of ruffles, buttons and ribbons.  Would look darling in a nursery, little girls room or use for a birthday party!

 

April 19-   Single Glove transfer- 5:30-9:00

You will learn how to transfer photos and then we will make this wall hanging out of old gloves using the transfers...............And if you can't get enough of these transfers I have another class on May 10 just in time for Mother's Day.

May 10 -Leather Glove Mother's Day Book 5:30-9:00

THese leather gloves turned into a cute little book that is nestled inside the gloves.  You will learn how to transfer family photos and add vintage looking button cards for the pages of the book inside.  Those of you who will be taking this glass you need to provide your leather gloves!  This class is just in time for Mother's Day.

March 1 can you believe it...............

My son's best friend's Baby Shower tonight and these are some of the cookies......they match the invitations....

And you can't have a shower without some Chocolate Salted Caramel Mini Cupcakes!

 

A little more transfer work.  This photo is in black and white instead of the colored ones I showed in the last post.  

The photo below is the same photo with one in color and the other in black and white.  I don't know which I prefer because they both give a different look....

I hope to show you the projects I am working on using these transfers!  I better quit baking and blogging so I can create............make it a good first day of March!
