As you can see I am not finished with the cover of my journal but just thought I would give you a glimpse of what we did in Stephanie's class on saturday.......this journal cover started with a blank journal and a long rectangle piece of felt.....in our kits we had a starter piece of scrap pieces of fabric already sewn together.....we then started to add to that piece all kinds of sizes and shapes to add on to the long piece of felt.......this is not something that you can finish in a short amount of time and I have spent a few hours since just adding more and more until I think I have it complete.....so much fun. It's like piecing a quilt with not boundaries and absolutely no perfection or precise measuring........That is one thing Stephanie reminded us not to do is think to much ..........just rip and tear those pieces of fabric and just start laying them on and stitching! I think that is what makes this journal so unique is the uneven raw pieces.
Also in our kits were several pieces of felt for the inside pages......Stephanie had us just pin pieces and lay them aside for later.....so we did two of those that day and the only one I have finished is the above. The first one is just pinned and I am working on that and a few others.
Like i said it's a work in progress but a really fun way to spend the evenings while watching TV or Road Trips...........
ANd the bottom two are the tags I made.........if you ever have the chance to take classes from Stephanie I highly recommend you do so.......so much fun and she is really a fantastic teacher and friend!!!!!
So go make it a great tuesday...........
Holy Moly, you are good!
