friday morning..........

 

How's that for an original title...............a little generic!

The cakes turned out a little different as you can see by these two photos......the one on the top I did not cook the caramel as long and the color was a little lighter and it turned runnier than the one in the bottom photo....... I thought the one for class, the cake was a little dryer......oh well they ate it anyway!

These girls worked so fast they broke the class record on being finished EARLY!  I don't know if we have ever gotten out of class so early........so great job everyone and you did an amazing job on your cute little Black Glittered Witches Hat.

The store is looking like a Fall paradise..........Cindy has worked hard this week putting out all new merchandise and adding those touches of fall.  Stop by( but not this weekend because of the holiday )  And remember we will have a winner for the Girdie Post Card Contest next week!  Enjoy this last weekend of the Summer and  hope to see all of you soon at the store or in class!  

thursday night class...........and Caramel Cake!

You guessed it.........those of you taking my class this coming thursday are in luck!  I have decided that you all deserve some of this delicious cake.........so tomorrow night come with your mouth watering for a piece of this delicious Caramel Cake!  My friend Jill said it was a big hit last night with her friends, so I had a piece this morning and decided to make another one!  See you girls tomorrow evening for class and cake!!!!!!!! What more can I say........we do have a spot or two left if it tempts any of you!

Caramel Layer Cake.........

My friend Jill is a fantastic cook and loves to bake, except cakes!  She can make a million cookies but has a love/hate relationship with cakes.........so we trade off.  Because I don't mind making cakes and I am okay with cookies but I would rather her do the cookies.  When she mentioned having a group over this week and wanted to make this new cake recipe, I told her I would bake it for her..........well this is it and let me tell you I really had a hard time not cutting a piece!  If she has some leftover I will try it and let you know!  She got the recipe out of the new Taste of the South September/October 2012 issue!

Is your mouth watering yet...........go out and buy this magazine........the cake is featured on the front cover!

lime green and hot pink...........

on my morning walk today I looked down and noticed this hot pink and lime green leaf.......

then I looked down and my shoes and socks were lime green and pink........

walked into the family room and boom another burst of lime green and hot pink.......

then into my workroom where I am typing this and even my storage containers are lime green and hot pink..........

I guess you can say I have a thing for lime green and hot pink.....maybe I need to take a ride on my bicycle to pick up some more of those beautiful leaves...

sweet face..........

15-20 years ago I had a big order for these porcelain doll heads.  My mom had the mold and so we poured them into the mold with liquid porcelain and then set them into the kiln to bake......painted them and away they went.........I came across one of the left over heads the other day and thought I would turn her into this little tin can doll.........kinda whimsical but fun.

I am hoping to have a few more of these sweet face tin can dolls for Glitter Market.....at least I am trying!  These are one of a kind so its hard to let go of them..........

These little porcelain dolls are getting in line to be all decked out for the holidays.......just you wait and see!

In between everything going on around here I am still working on some Glitter Market stuff!  I made some of these dress canvases a while back and decided to make a few more but these are a little bit smaller...........I tried some different techniques on these!

Thursday August 30 5:30-9:00 we will be making this Black Witches Hat full of black glitter, paper dolls, spiders and crepe paper!

 

 

Happy Halloween House

Tuesday September 18 5:30-9:00 We will be making this Halloween House out of watercolor paper and decorating it with a paper thatched roof with beeswax and adding all kinds of halloween ephemera to make it one of those fun decorations for your halloween holiday.  The house is set on a black book and then glued down......those of you in this class will need to bring a black book approximately 10'x5 inches or a bit smaller or a bit larger.........

I guess it would not be a holiday without a banner, and I always think you  are tired of banners but here we go again!  This fall banner is full of fall colors and some sweet faces that spell FALL!

Wow can you believe this is completed finally!  Thank You all for being so patient with me.  I hope I never have another lull like I have this summer.  Infact I have already started to think about Christmas classes and picked up a few things this morning while I was at the store.......talking about the store, Cindy has unpacked so many boxes of new merchandise she doesn't know where to put it all.....let me tempt you a little......

Well if that doesn't get your creative juices flowing I don't know what will...they did mine!

One last bit!  Those of you who have sent Girdie post cards this summer for the summer giveaway, here is the latest photo of the post cards hanging all around the front of the store!  It looks awesome and Girdie thanks each and everyone who has sent a post card from their summer travels.  Remember you have until Labor Day to send one and to be entered for the Paper Crown Gift certificate!  The winner will be announced Labor Day weekend!

I think that will do it for this beautiful Monday afternoon here in Oklahoma........the weather is absolutely perfect.......I even have the windows open!!!!!!!

Good Monday Morning!

I know I promised to have full photos and dates for the new classes and I am working on them!  I promise to have those by this afternoon!  I really do apologize and it has been crazy trying to get everything together for these classes.  I intended to take the photos last thursday night after our painting class and I just flat forgot!  I guess we were having to much fun!
