Well you can see the stitching from last weekends Stephanie class has continued......I have used up scraps of velvet and felt to make a few little flower and heart appliques to go on whatever! I don't have a clue right now what I will use them for but one of these days it will hit me but for now I am stitching away with all those little bits of scraps that usually go into the trash!

Another great class with fun gals.......we laughed and carried on all evening and it was good to be back in the classroom once again. Thanks girls..... you all did an amazing job and I hope you enjoy filling your Easter album with memories gone by or future ones! Sorry Becky you had to leave early but I did snap this of you working away!
Apricot Bars ( Pioneer Women recipe)
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 sticks butter cut into pieces
1 jar apricot preserves or if you can't find I used the Smuckers Simply fruit
Mix together all ingredients but the preserves, I used my fingers to break up the butter with all the dry ingredients. Press one half the mixture into a 8x8 greased pyrex pan. Then spread the entire jar of Apricot on top of the first layer and then sprinkle remaining mixture on top and pat this down. Bake at 350 for 30-40 min. Let completely cool before cutting.....I think if you wanted to use any kind of preserves it would work .........
of course this was my breakfast, it has oats and fruit in it!!!!
Happy friday and a Happy Weekend!!!!!
For those of you in this class thursday evening March 23 this is your supply list:
crop a dile
gold leaf pen
distressed ink in spun sugar or whatever color you like to distress
basic class kit
if you are using this as a past memory Easter photo book bring your photos
of course any Easter paper, ephemera bring those for you to add
I think that is it.......see you all at 5:30 thursday!
I did get my rope enclosure finished but I don't think it's the right way but I went with it , tied it around instead of sewing it down because I wanted to be able and see the Cowgirl on the front and she is right in the middle..........fabric journaling is so addicting and something you can take along wherever you go!
Have a good day people.........
As you can see I am not finished with the cover of my journal but just thought I would give you a glimpse of what we did in Stephanie's class on saturday.......this journal cover started with a blank journal and a long rectangle piece of felt.....in our kits we had a starter piece of scrap pieces of fabric already sewn together.....we then started to add to that piece all kinds of sizes and shapes to add on to the long piece of felt.......this is not something that you can finish in a short amount of time and I have spent a few hours since just adding more and more until I think I have it complete.....so much fun. It's like piecing a quilt with not boundaries and absolutely no perfection or precise measuring........That is one thing Stephanie reminded us not to do is think to much ..........just rip and tear those pieces of fabric and just start laying them on and stitching! I think that is what makes this journal so unique is the uneven raw pieces.
Also in our kits were several pieces of felt for the inside pages......Stephanie had us just pin pieces and lay them aside for later.....so we did two of those that day and the only one I have finished is the above. The first one is just pinned and I am working on that and a few others.
Like i said it's a work in progress but a really fun way to spend the evenings while watching TV or Road Trips...........
ANd the bottom two are the tags I made.........if you ever have the chance to take classes from Stephanie I highly recommend you do so.......so much fun and she is really a fantastic teacher and friend!!!!!
So go make it a great tuesday...........
Stephanie taught this fun wooden tag class friday evening where we layered each one with paper, tissue, napkins, washi tape, words and paint......we each had 6 tags and 6 hearts to create some whimsical art on these fun pieces of wood.........everyone had different colors and styles which they took the basic concept from Stephanie and then just did what they wanted and they all looked amazing. I didn't get a photo of everyones but these are just a few.....
We all had so much fun and went away with 6 sweet wooden tags to hang onto or giveaway...........Thanks Stephanie for a fun way to spend friday evening!
Saturdays fun stitching class............
So instead of layers of paper now the fabric layering began as we started out to make pages and a cover for our binders........Stephanie showed us how she started with just scraps of fabric and put together without thinking of how big the pieces were and just laying them down randomly and just start adding and adding.........at first there was a little hesitation but once she explained how each layer would look differently we all felt better and went to work......USE WHAT YOU HAVE was Stephanie's motto.......
and how to use the positive and negative pieces that you cut out........never throw away those scraps, use them!!!!!
And look who Stephanie brought with her this time......her sweet sister Jenn! We all met Jenn last summer when Stephanie invited us to Waco and instantly felt just like we did the first time we met Stephanie.......and this was her first time to ever be in Oklahoma ( Thank the Lord the weather was great)
They both love to stitch and she stitched while we stitched! We loved having Jenn and hope she comes back the next time Stephanie comes......oh and they got to go see The Mercantile/Pioneer Woman and I think we have won over Stephanie with Jenn's help!!!!!
Stephanie is showing us how to make the rope closure for our books out of strips of fabric .........you make this and attach it to the front cover of your book and it looks really cool.....when I get mine finished I hope I can remember how to make one and I will show you. It will be a while for show and tell, lots of stitching to complete the pages and cover of this journal but it was so much fun to get started and there is no stopping or limit where it will take each of us..........
And Thanks to Cindy Lou for another wonderful weekend at the Paper Crown......it was a little crazy because of Spring Break this week and Cindy was one of the parents who went with Emory's school to Mexico.....getting in late thursday evening and then to have a big weekend I know she was tired but still smiling at the end of the weekend.....Thank You Cindy for always making the Paper Crown a Happy Place to create art and to have such wonderful and talented guest artist like Stephanie come and teach ..... we feel so honored and lucky to have the PC and you!!!!!
Thank You all who traveled far for our weekend with Stephanie.......we appreciate all of you and hope you all come back soon!
Now enjoy the rest of this weekend........ Cindy will have more photos on the Paper Crown blog and I think Stephanie will post a few on her Instagram!!!!!
Well I have been so into this remodeling job I had forgotten I ordered these whimsical stamps right after Christmas.........so yesterday I decided to get back into my room and do a little creating with them........I don't order a lot of things but when I saw these on Danielle Donaldson's blog I knew I needed them.........I have followed Danielle Donaldson's blog for a while because I love watercolors and she is a master.......the soft touch she has is so beautiful and I love that look.....so here they are! I made them into tags, of course because I love to tie them on packages or journals........I used black Versafine to stamp them and then used Copic and Spectrum Noir for the color........So there you have it on this fine St. Patty's Day!
Have a great weekend.........we will since our friend from Southern California Stepahanie Ackerman will be at the PC with her sweet sister Jenn!!!!!!!!!

(You can go to the Paper Crown blog and check out the supplies you will be needing for both of her classes and times)
I have been working and stitching a lot lately and I have this thing for the red cross looking x......I have used it in several mediums such as fabric, felt, velvet, paper, stencil and even washi tape.......Don't ask me why but I love the little x! I even bought some little lapel pins and have misplaced them somewhere......I got enough to share for a class if I ever come across them again. Oh well they will show up someday........just wishing you all a great spring break wednesday!
