2012 Calendar Collaborative............

Since I'm on a Paper Doll roll I thought I would share this with you....

 

Back in the fall of last year I was invited to participate in a 2012 Calendar Collaborative project with Catherine Moore, using her Character Construction Stamps.  Catherine then selected 12 artists to participate.  We each were assgined one month and had to create a 8 1/2 by 11 Calendar page using Catherine's stamps.  You were to make 11 copies of your finished page and send them to the other gals.

To say the least I was honored and felt privileged to share in this creative project with 11 creative artists. Thanks to all of you for this experience!  Below are the months in order and the artist name. ( I am missing March but it is on its way)

I just wanted to share this with all of you. I truly had so much fun working on this project and of course you all know that I am always in favor of playing with these little DOLLS! Teaching classes you have to always be ahead of the seasons.............While it is still January I am thinking of Easter and Mother's Day! I hope this photo gets you in the mood for something fun coming!

A special night!

 

Some of you know I was having a Dinner Party on saturday evening! Every year SNU ( Southern Nazarene University) has a big Auction at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. The money we raise goes towards Scholarships for children who are not able to pay the tuition for the summer school classes SNU offers. It is a wonderful camp.  Every year I give a dinner for 8 in my home for one of the Live Auction items..........  So this was the dinner. Here are a few pictures I took...I did not take as many photos as I would of liked but here are a few.......

 

The menu was:

Appetizers:  Stuffed Dates with Pecans wrapped with Bacon & Pimento Cheese Spread with Crackers & Celery

Herb crusted Cornish Game Hens

Mushroom Wild Rice

Dilled Steamed Carrots

Frozen Raspberry/Cranberry Mousse

Parmesan Basil Rolls

 

Chocolate Creme Brulee

I thought it might be fun to have their names written in chocolate........I only had one of them break but I made backups just in case.......it was a great ending and I hope they had a fun evening in our home!

I would not of made it  if it wasn't for these two...........As I cooked and plated up they were picking up dishes, washing dishing, filling glasses with ice and drinks, making sure everyone had plenty of food. While I was taking pictures and running around they kept me going and the guests...... I had made photo books of the evening for all 5 couples and wanted them to take a little something home , so while I was copying photos  these two kept the dinner going! And can you believe I did not get pictures of their books......sorry!  It was crazy but we made it and I am thankful for my sweet husband and sweet friend Susan who made this night go smoothly!  Thanks you two!

 

It is now Monday and a new week...........have a good one!

These creative and oh so sweet gals came to class and went home with these Adorable Valentine Spools! Each and everyone put their own little twist of trim, sequins, lace, rick rack and little doo-dads to finish their project!  Great Job girls!  ( I forgot to take more pictures, sorry)

 

My table is set, the Menu is set, the groceries are bought and I am ready for a Dinner Party!

The above photo is one of the dolls we will be making in class for those of you who have signed up.  The date for this class is February 23.

Can you tell I had fun yesterday afternoon and last night playing with this new line of Character Construction Paper Dolls...........thanks Catherine for keeping us all excited to play and feel like a child once again!  If you want to join in the fun the Paper Crown has the full line of these wonderful stamps!  Stop by today before they are all gone.  I know they are flying out the door!

Paper Doll Contest at the Paper Crown.............

We have decided to change up the Valentine Swap this year at the Paper Crown.  Instead of each person making a dozen cards, tags or atc's Cindy thought it might be fun to have a Paper Doll swap.  Each person is to create 1 Paper Doll to swap and to be judged, with a surprise to the winner!  Doesn't it sound like fun?  If you plan to participate please make sure you sign the back of your doll and bring it to the store before Feb. 14!  We will announce the on Valentine's Day!  So girls start creating those sweet little paper dolls...........

busy week.........

Every week is busy but this week is crazy busy!  I am having a big dinner party this weekend and I have been looking through some of my favorite cookbooks wondering what to serve!  Usually I know exactly what to serve but I am having some trouble deciding..........After this weekend I will share what I decided on and let you know about this Dinner!

Heart name tag...........

 

Valentine's day is just a few weeks away and I just thought I would share this little stuffed heart with my name!  The reason behind the heart with my name is back in June when I attended the Gilded Life weekend in Dallas they asked each of us to make a name tag. So I came up with this little stuffed linen heart with this cute porcelain head( I have saved for years and knew it would be used someday) and a few little embellishments!  The first evening of the event you were to wear your name tags to get acquainted.  I don't remember if they said ahead of time if it was a contest or not but they had judges walking around looking at each name tag.  By the end of the evening they announced they had a winner and guess what......I won!  So this little name tag is very special.

Just thought it was appropriate to share this time of year!

class highlights..............and more Paper Doll news............

These girls all did an amazing job on their Sweetheart Valentine Martini Candy Dish! ( that is a mouth full) Each one turned out totally different and fun!  It was a cold night outside but we had fun and stayed warm at the Paper Crown!

Just in are the new Character Construction Paper Dolls at the Paper Crown.  We all have been patiently waiting for their arrival............don't delay because they will be gone quick!  Cindy ordered the entire line...........the new line is call " The Beekeeper's Tea!  I will be teaching a class on these Paper Dolls Thursday night Feb. 23........I hope to have some samples this next week to show you!  If you want to go ahead and sign up before I have the samples you can call the store 405-848-2389 to reserve your spot!
